Western Sydney family bags $15,000,000 Powerball jackpot
2 min read
Imagine setting up your family for financial freedom! Many people play lotto in pursuit of this goal, and for one family from Emu Plains, this great Australian dream has come true.
In a surprising twist, it took an entire week for the winning husband to realise they were sitting on a multi-million dollar prize after scooping Division 1 in February 26th’s $15,000,000 Powerball draw! The husband, who wishes to remain anonymous, only got around to checking his winning 50-game Quickpick last Thursday.
The family, located in Sydney’s western suburbs, were “flabbergasted” with the thought of their windfall after calling lottery officials to confirm the news. After a long silence, the stunned husband managed to utter “That’s a lot of money!”
He went on to say that it felt “very strange” and that it would take some time for the magnitude of their situation to sink in. He laughed that his wife would have trouble believing it, but that he couldn’t wait to tell her.
The family plans to pay off the ”mortgage, car and credit cards” before having a “good hard think” about how best to use their prize money – be it travel, investing, charity, or something else.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 980 on Thursday 26 February 2015 were 19, 22, 36, 5, 18 and 8 plus Powerball number 9.
