Mandurah in Western Australia is officially the luckiest place in the state to buy a Lotto ticket and the locals are tipping that there will be yet another win when the $31 million Megadraw goes off on December 31.
In this year alone, the booming coastal town has seen six division one lotto tickets being sold, totalling more than $10 million in prize money – this makes Mandurah the luckiest lotto town in Western Australia by a long shot.
The top five lucky suburbs are Mandurah, Bassendean, Kelmscott, Perth City and Clarkson.
The newsagency that is responsible for a lot of the lotto results in the lucky town is Mandurah City News and the owners of the newsagency say that they are having a stellar year.
In just four days in October this year, Leonie and Colin Kerr sold two Division One Lotto tickets with the wins totalling $5.02 Million and they are now anticipating and onslaught of customers for the December 31, $31 Million Megadraw.
"We've been here for about 10 years and we have sold seven Division One tickets," Mr Kerr said.
"When we sold the second winning ticket in October we had people come from Perth and the other side of Joondalup to buy tickets from us.
"Just last week we sold a $30,000 scratchie; I've got a good feeling about the Megadraw, for sure."
Lotterywest is anticipating that $1.5 million tickets will be sold in Western Australia alone for the New Year’s jackpot, which equals about one per adult in the state.
This will see approximately $7 million raised to benefit the WA community.
