$2.1 million Lotto ticket saved from jaws of winner's dog
1 min read
A couple from Melbourne's western suburbs managed to save their Saturday Lotto ticket from becoming their dog's dinner - luckily for them, as it was worth $2,152,652.14! The winning wife said there was a "funny story" behind the mishap which made her believe her "ticket must be special".
"The other day my dog grabbed my purse off the table and spread the contents everywhere," she explained, adding that everything was "covered in teeth marks" - except the Lotto ticket, which was untouched. After checking the winning numbers online, she was shocked to match all six numbers on her 50-game Quickpick. "I nearly fell off my seat!" she laughed.
After the excitement has subsided, the couple intend to buy a home and pay off their debts. They have no plans to stop working, saying that they "love what [they] do". But they are planning a special Christmas present to themselves - a brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
The other Division 1 winner in last Saturday's draw hailed from South Australia. The winning numbers from Saturday Lotto draw 3479 were 42, 31, 23, 14, 5 and 1, plus supplementary numbers 10 and 44.
